Auto Shop I introduces students to the foundational principles of automotive repair within a structured, safety-centered environment. Students study laboratory organization, tool identification, and essential safety procedures before progressing to internal combustion engines and basic automotive systems. Practical experiences include minor repairs, basic maintenance, non-structural collision repair techniques, metal preparation, welding fundamentals, and refinishing processes. Students also learn industry-standard vocabulary and measurement skills to support clear communication and technical accuracy. The course fosters systematic problem-solving and responsible use of equipment.
