Animal Science I introduces students to foundational principles of animal husbandry and ethical care of small farm animals. Through the study of livestock species, anatomy, physiology, and basic management practices, students gain the knowledge necessary to support daily animal care on the school farm. Coursework includes handling techniques, introductory breeding concepts, record keeping, and the practical use of animal products. Students develop responsibility, consistency, and observational skills as they engage in purposeful work that supports the farm environment and contributes to the well-being of the animals.
