Spanish IV

Spanish IV is conducted entirely in Spanish, and students continue speaking exclusively in the language as they expand their vocabulary into more advanced areas. In this course, students learn the preterite forms of stem-changing verbs, work with double object pronouns, and use comparatives and superlatives with confidence. They read authentic Spanish-language articles covering significant events and issues from the Spanish-speaking world, strengthening both comprehension and cultural awareness. The curriculum explores the stages of life, regional traditions, and more specific cultural practices. Students also study irregular preterites and verbs whose meanings change in the past tense, as well as the distinction between qué and cuál and the correct use of pronouns after prepositions. In addition, they learn to form and apply commands and all variations of the future tense. Through complex readings, discussions, and real-world materials related to culture, economy, and politics, students deepen their understanding of the Spanish-speaking world while mastering a wider range of pronouns and advanced verb tenses.
