The Pentateuch

This Sacred Scripture course offers a foundational study of the first five books of the Bible, emphasizing their central role in salvation history. Students begin with the Book of Genesis, examining creation, the Fall, and God’s covenantal relationship with the Patriarchs—Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph—highlighting themes of promise, faith, and divine fidelity. The course then turns to Exodus, focusing on Moses as mediator, the liberation of Israel, and the giving of the Law, before briefly addressing Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy as God’s preparation of His people for life in the Promised Land. Through close reading of Scripture, Socratic discussions, written and oral reflections, and connections to theology and the broader biblical narrative, students deepen their understanding of Scripture and its enduring significance. Throughout the course, students approach Scripture not merely as a historical text, but as a reverent listening to the living Word of God that reveals His will and prepares the way for Christ
