Letters of Saint Paul

This Sacred Scripture course offers a focused study of the Letters of Saint Paul within the historical, missionary, and theological context of the early Church. Students explore Saint Paul’s conversion and apostolic vocation before turning to selected letters, with particular attention to his teaching on Jesus Christ, grace, faith, salvation, the Church, the Sacraments, Christian freedom, charity, and the moral life. Through close reading, discussion, Socratic questioning, written and oral reflection, and connections to theology and the life of the Church, students trace the development of Paul’s thought and consider how his teaching responds to the concrete challenges of the early Christian communities while expressing enduring truths about Christian life and discipleship. As students encounter Paul’s writings as part of the unfolding story of salvation, they are invited to see the Christian life as a response to Christ’s call to conversion, holiness, and participation in His mission.
