A Culture of Connection

At St. Helena Montessori, community life follows a deliberate rhythm across the academic year. These shared events mark moments of welcome, reflection, celebration, and culmination—bringing students, families, and faculty into deeper relationship with one another and with the work of the school.

New Parent Social

An opening gathering for new families to build early connections within the community and develop familiarity with the culture and expectations of the school.

School-wide “Re-set” (Screens)

A collective pause at the start of the year to realign habits around technology use. This initiative reinforces attention, presence, and the conditions necessary for deep work and healthy development.

Welcome Back Coffee

A Parents' Guild event that welcomes families to the new school year and creates space for connection, communication, and engagement with the parent community.

Back to School Nights

Program-specific evenings (Toddler through High School)  in which guides and faculty orient parents to the developmental stage, classroom environment, and academic expectations for the year ahead.

Harvest Day

A shared community event centered on the work of the land. Adolescent Program & Primary students participate in harvesting and preparation, making visible the connection between effort, stewardship, and sustenance.

All Saints Celebrations

Primary students participate in a procession honoring the saints, while Elementary students present the All Saints Living History Museum, embodying historical figures and sharing research on their lives and virtues.

Christmas Celebrations

Primary and Elementary students present a traditional Christmas pageant, while the Adolescent Program offers a candlelit Advent concert. These observances reflect beauty, reverence, and the communal preparation for the season.
 

Christmas Market

An entrepreneurial and community event led by adolescent (middle & high school) students, featuring goods, food, and projects developed through their work. The market reflects the Montessori emphasis on micro-economy and real-world application.
 

Feast of Epiphany Celebrations

A return from the Christmas season marked by reflection and celebration, observed in developmentally appropriate ways across the school.
 

Mothers'
Open House

An opportunity for mothers to spend time in the Primary environment, observing their child’s work and gaining insight into the rhythms of the classroom.

Fathers'
Open House

A parallel experience for fathers, offering direct engagement with the environment and a deeper understanding of the child’s growing independence.
 

School-wide Lenten
"Re-set"

A second intentional pause in the year, aligned with the season of Lent, inviting reflection, simplification, and renewed attention to habits and priorities.

Middle School Excursions

Field studies and extended trips that support the adolescent’s need for exploration, collaboration, and real-world engagement.
 

May Crowning Celebrations

A traditional observance honoring the Blessed Mother, marked by reverence and simplicity, and adapted appropriately across developmental levels.
 

Elementary Moving Up Ceremony

A recognition of growth and transition as students complete the Elementary cycle and prepare for the next stage of their Montessori journey.
 

Middle School Convocation

A formal acknowledgment of completion of the Middle School years, marking both academic and personal development.

High School Graduation

The culmination of the full Montessori continuum, honoring each student’s intellectual formation, character development, and readiness to move forward with purpose.
